The Coleman is packed, the Yukon is loaded, the grandkids are ready, and we’re off to Hampton Beach, part of the NH State Parks and Recreation, for the week. We can’t help it – we love camping at the beach.
We’re meeting up with our good camping buddies, and we’ll walk on the beach, fly new kites, fish, talk, play cards and cribbage, and have a nightly fire with marshmallows. We love our marshmallows!
But, in the back of my mind this week I’ll be thinking about the next season that is upon us – fall. Autumn in New England is gorgeous, but it means the long, cold, confining winter months aren’t far behind.
How do I know this – well, the Autumn Joy Sedum by the chicken coop is turning and the first tree in our yard is also turning.
We’re going to enjoy this week at the beach and come home ready to start the fall preparations. Let’s face it there’s a lot to do on a small farm to get ready for winter including marking more maple trees for collecting sap to make maple syrup.
But, we are going to forget all that this week and concentrate on enjoying our time at the beach. Summer camping season – we love it and hate to see it end.
Have a terrific week, and we’ll see you when we get back.
Have a wonderful trip!

Sounds absolutely blissful. We’re planning our first ever trip to New Hampshire. We’ll be there in mid-October to enjoy the cooler weather and the fall color. We don’t have fall in South Texas, so we’ve never seen it except in pictures. Can’t wait!

I hope the leaves will be in full color when you get here. If you want any suggestions on what to see, feel free to ask.

Oh how delightful. Brought back such sweet family memories of our camper at the beach for a week when I was a kid. Wish I could do that now. 🙂 And thank you so much. I always wondered what those flowers were – the Sedum! I’ll have to tell my grandkids next time we are walking around the block. Have a great week!
