This plant was a gift from a dear friend who has since passed. The original plant was given to him by a friend in Costa Rica. I’ve had it here in the house for eight years or so, and it puts off these gorgeous blooms once a year and the blooms last one day. When you are surrounded by feet of the white stuff everywhere you look, the blooms from this plant are heaven sent. π
There is something so “Easter-y” about this blossom! And you have the skill to nurture anything into a burst of springtime! Wow – only one day?! Fascinating!
That is just breathtaking and I am so hoping it brightens your days. A much needed change from all of that white stuff! It is amazing how many different types of iris there are and all of them beautiful.
I went out and shoveled some snow off my raised beds this morning. π We’ve got a ways to go until spring. Hope you’re doing better with spring’s arrival.
Stunning.

It’s just green fronds all year and then these delicate little blooms come forth for one day, and it is pretty miraculous. π

I’ve never heard of a walking iris before – I will have to research that one

Our snow is (mostly) gone – I am hoping to see some flowers when we head south this weekend. But I think we’re a long way off here in Wisconsin!
