In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Motion.”
Motion means waves of water crashing over the rocks at the Cape Neddick Lighthouse in York, Maine. This beautiful lighthouse on Nubble Island was constructed in the late 1870’s and is still used today.
Being on an island, the lighthouse itself is not accessible to the public, but you can park at nearby Sohier Park and enjoy the spectacular sights and sounds.
Trip Advisor lists it as #1 of the top 24 attractions in York, ME. Can’t make it this summer? No problem. Come back during the holiday season and see it all decked out in holiday lights. It’s beautiful any time of year. 🙂

Sail boat owner – nice. 🙂 If the UK lighthouses are as nice as your gardens, I’m in awe. 🙂

Ha – I wish I had a yacht – just go on sailing holidays now and again… there are some cracking lighthouses here – especially on west coast usually on cliffs, in Cornwall and channel 🙂 and some are in the middle of the sea – Google fastnet yacht race or ediston lighthouse.

Very nice! I really want to take my husband and girls to Maine sometime!! I was there when I was young. My parents used to live in Portland, Maine before I was born.

So serene…. I felt the motion of the waves. However, it’s the lighthouse that stole my heart!

This lighthouse, home and other buildings are so picture perfect that it looks like they were built of Legos! What an enchanting place to live!

You need to get those talented and handsome grandsons going on that Lego project. I bet they could do it. 🙂

I do love lighthouses and their accompanying buildings. We have plenty of them surrounding our islands here on the west coast. The motion of the waves is very evident and yet that lighthouse stands strong and firm. Great photos!

Just breathtaking and so unlike any thing you would see around her — even the waves are very different. I bet that lighthouse is spectacular decorated for Christmas. Pictures/???
