We had a beautiful day last week, and I went on a shopping adventure with a dear friend and her lovely daughter. We went to the open house at Tattered Rabbit Farm, Deerfield, NH, to check out their amazing birdhouses which was not only a lot of fun but resulted in some interesting doors.
Beautiful home, handsome doors, and amazing birdhouses. Did I buy one? Of course, who could resist beautiful, unique birdhouses that were literally flying out of their studio. We had to grab quickly, and I sincerely doubt there were any left on the last day. The first one I picked up had a rabbit theme, and I was in love with it. But, on the way to pay, I saw one with unique pieces of telephone hardware. With a hubby who spent his entire business career with Ma Bell, I had to put the cute rabbit one down and grab this one. It just was too perfect especially since it even had hardware on the backside including a door knocker. 🙂
I also have to include photos of two of the cutest flower and veggie beds I have ever seen. Don’t you agree?

These birdhouses are delightful! I love the mix of materials.

I love the birdhouse that you chose! My grandmother was an operator for the telephone company in Los Angeles in late 40’s/early 50’s. One of her jobs was to tell what time it was at the tone. Those flower beds are too cute. It lovely like a lovely place to visit. 🙂

One thing I know about your grandmother – she could multi task with the best of them. 🙂

I love the flower bed pics too! My Mom would love a “cradle” flower bed. She loves her flowers!

Tattered Rabbit Farm is just so far removed from my home here in Canberra, Australia,…how I’d just love to wing over and see these gorgeous places!! The houses, so carefully painted and with such great doors, the flower beds are also very cute, but the birdhouses are absolutely delightful! I’m coming over one day, just to buy one!

I had hoped to take photos of several of the birdhouses, but they didn’t sit on the shelves long enough, and it was so busy I couldn’t even focus a camera. What a hoot. 🙂

The flower beds are too cute, not to mention clever, for words. Love the birdhouse you chose. But I also love the framed appliqué hanging on a great door. I don’t know how you choose when everything is so special.

The sale was Fri, Sat, and Sun, and we got there less than an hour after it opened for the day on Friday. The birdhouses were literally flying out the door with people making piles of things to pay for. There was a box made out of barn wood that was planted with succulents. One woman ran around the building and grabbed every one, probably about ten of them, and bought them all. It was unbelievable. We asked if they replenished inventory each day, but he said there was no way he could do that so when it sold out, it was over. It was crazy. You’d reach your hand out to check one out, and poof it was gone. 🙂

Saw your “like” several times this week – thank you! Am maybe old-fashioned, and reserve the “likes” for Facebook and Instagram, but with blogging I would LOVE your opinion (comment):):)

I love the birdhouse! My Mother would appreciate the one with the telephone dial. She too spent her career working for Ma Bell. 🙂 I like the hens curtain in the door window too.
Fun doors today Judy!

Those birdhouses are really cute, as are the flower beds. That must have been a fun place to visit. It’s a good thing they are pretty big, you might have bought a bunch of them. I love the complex window detail in the door on the lower left.

We were down by the canal and the caterpillars are up and around. Millions of them. Tiny, but growing. So i’m not planting anything right now. Not until I see how the summer develops.

I’m impressed that you only bought the one birdhouse and didn’t walk out with both, Judy. What a fun way to spend a day.

Thank you for this great start to my day! Those beds are hilarious, and everything else is so imaginative that the whole of it is real tonic for me. Your new birdhouse is awesome!

Cool stuff! I love the birdhouse you picked–so clever. And I had to laugh at the flower beds because I bought something similar at a garage sale a few years ago. Mine is more primitive than the ones you showed and, inexplicably, has an old-fashioned faucet attached to the side, so it looks like you can water the bed-shaped planter. So silly–I love it.

Judy, I liked the turquoise bird house with the brass details which really was unique and pretty! (Not quite robin’s egg blue, though. . . 😉 ) We may have enjoyed seeing the rabbit birdhouse (anyway).
I loved the clever flower and vegetable “beds” which were charming! Smiles, Robin

What fun! Everything so cute and clever! LOVE the flower beds! And you got a truly unique item with real meaning for your family! I love the hens painted on the little white house, too – too bad you couldn’t toss that cute little building on the back of your truck and haul it home, too!
