Ever heard of Woodstock, NH? It’s 60 miles north of Concord and 90 miles south of the Canadian border, and it has a pretty well-known craft brewery at the Woodstock Inn, Station and Brewery.
On our way north a couple of weeks ago, we decided to take a little detour and check the area out. It is a lovely little New England town with around 1,500 residents. The early industry was logging and paper, but once the White Mountain National Forest started buying up property, tourism became a very important part of the economy.
Woodstock Inn, Station and Brewery has a rich history including starting out as the area rail station. Today, it is a destination spot to enjoy locally brewed craft beer, delicious food, and an opportunity to stay over night at a brewery.
The green awning and door leads to the main building while the other two buildings house additional lodging. Small town, good-sized brewery, and multiple lodging units make for a pretty interesting stop.
Checking out doors always goes better with good beer, right? We thoroughly enjoyed Red Rack Ale, Raspberry Weasel Wheat Ale, and meatloaf and chicken salad sandwiches.
This was the 3rd brewery to open in NH that had a seven-barrel system and taproom. It has now increased to a 37 barrel system, and their beer is available in stores and restaurants throughout New England.
The length to which I go to stay in good stead with Norm, the head brewer of all things Thursday, is hard to believe. 🍺

Excellent doors. I’m not sure there’s much better than a meatloaf sandwich and a cold beer.
For the records, I have heard of Woodstock, but I’ve never been.

Quite impressive looking meal. The doors are pretty too. Norm will appreciate all your good thoughts! Looks like wonderful lodging! I love that these craft brew places are becoming destinations on their own right. We have one just down the street, wishing there were sidewalks from my house to there……

I like a good beer as well as the next girl but those sandwiches really make my mouth water!

They have a great sidewalk all along the property, but t ends at a ditch with no way to cross. I am 1/4th of a mile from that sidewalk on the other side of a busy road and risky walking, although my neighbor does it. They often host events in their meadow, which is quite fun.

Beautifully maintained buildings and grounds that look so inviting. Love the arch look the canopy gives over the door. And those porches are super.
The sandwiches look delicious, and although I don’t drink beer, I think I could be tempted by one of their brews.
Glad you wandered off the beaten path. This place was a great find.

Cute little town, and we were glad we were there before tourist season gets into full swing. I’m imaging that those two-lane roads get pretty congested. I’d definitely stop again. 🙂

Your life is what most of us retirees dreamed of doing during our working years – casually meandering about a beautiful part of the country, exploring charming out-of-the-way places like this without a map or alarm clock to spoil the fun! We still have that on our to-do list, but a house full of pets and 10 grandkids have managed to delay those plans! I can’t say I’m unhappy, yet I see the fun you and Dennis are having and wish we were on the road with you!

I’ll come help at Grandma camp with those 10 grandkids anytime you need me. My two are teens now and pretty busy and self sufficient. But, I can only imagine the fun and chuckles you and I could have on a road trip. 🙂

I’m not a beer drinker (but my husband is!). No matter. That food looks fantastic, especially the chicken salad sandwich. And what a charming place, one that I’d love to visit.

My kinda doors. I have heard of this place. I don’t think we’ve ever stopped in Woodstock but it is right on our way when we used to go hiking in the White Mountains.
The next time you’re that close to the border just keep going and come on up for a spell 😉

I stared at that gigantic house with the gigantic porch for a long time before I could go on in your post. How wonderful! All your photos are so eloquent! As to meat loaf, I can say only that when I got meat loaf sandwiches (with ketchup, of course) in my lunchbox, I knew my mother loved me. You sure know what’s good!

It’s funny. I’m defrosting some chopped meat and was wondering whether to make chili or meatloaf. I think I’m leaning toward meatloaf.

My, my! Another adventure with good food, good brews. I love those two buildings, one a lodge, with those wrap-around porches. I always wanted to live in a house with a big porch and lots of outdoor furniture. It hasn’t happened yet but who knows….

ok judy after all of these years after visiting your blog here is my relationship with beer : UGH 🙂 The only way that I can drink beer is if it is over 85-90 degrees then down at my son’s house they know to put half of the beer in the freezer to chill and the other half in a glass full of ice cubes 🙂 I DO like wine and maybe a rum and coke, and sometimes sipping on mysterious drinks that my DIL provides that taste like pink lemonade but have something relaxing in them ( ha ha ) but beer is my only if it is a ‘two or three bra day” and you’ll remember that joke from a few years ago and the last heat wave ? 🙂

I was never a beer drinker until about the last 8 years or so, and I only like really good craft draft beer. I like wine and one of those fruity drinks as well if someone is serving them. This week is definitely a multiple shoer and bra day. 🙂
