I know, I know, I’m suppose to be doing a year-end recap, but I couldn’t. A beautiful red door with Snoopy and Woodstock resting above it beats all in my book.
I saw an article on line that a man in Portsmouth had created a Christmas Snoopy and Charlie Brown display. Al Bailey, 487 Ocean Road, Portsmouth, is the creative homeowner. If you’re nearby, and you or someone you love is a Snoopy fan, it’s worth the drive.
I went during the day so I could get better photos, and I even met Mr. Bailey as he was returning from a walk with his dog.
Everyone is in a hurry doing their holiday stuff, and the world, well we won’t talk about the world. But, here is a man and his family who spend months creating Christmas decorations for the simple enjoyment of their community.
Thank you Mr. Bailey for sixteen years of Christmas displays. You have given us an opportunity to stop, smile, and appreciate these wonderful characters and their adventures from our youth.
I hope Santa Norm can forgive me for bending the rules, but I just had to go with Charlie Brown and the gang the Thursday before Christmas. π

I love it! Merry Christmas!

Well, if this isn’t just what I needed this morning! I love the choir and their obvious zest for Christmas carols. And of course Schroeder — I’ve always had a soft spot for anyone trying to practice piano with interruptions. But that red door! Red steps! Yellow house! It looks like a red rocking chair over on a porch to the right. My idea of eye candy. I love the whole of it — thank you, thank you!

Yes, there was a lovely porch to the right with rocking chairs, and one of them was occupied with about a 5′ Snoopy. But, there were cars parked in front of it, and I couldn’t get a clear shot. It is an absolutely gorgeous home and when you add the decorations, it is just off the chart. Glad you enjoyed it. π

Good – I achieved my purpose. π I thought of you looking at all the wood required to make those pieces. There was a tree with 12 Woodstocks in it, but I couldn’t get a good shot of it. This gentleman has skills with his saw. π

I was doing two inventory tasks. What it might take to make them and where they could be stored. I’m afraid the latter exercise rules this out for me, but it’s so fun!

In the original article, he said he sometimes gives them to a neighbor and then he can see them again. I thought that was a good idea because it sure takes care of storage. π

Some may think I’m silly, but I bought a Peanuts and Gang Nativity Set last year. I bought one for #1 Grandson and liked it so much I went back bought one for me. It’s so cute!

I think bringing the Nativity into the season in a way that makes sense to a young child is a good thing. π

Judy, I clicked on the link and read Al Bailey’s story. What an exceptional human being. Thanks for sharing a little Christmas cheer instead of a door today. I’m sure Norm will forgive.

It really is a nice story. He walked up with his dog and asked me if it was my first visit, and I said ‘yes’ and how impressed I was with his work. He was very humble, but he had a huge smile and an infectious laugh. It was a nice holiday moment that reminded me of how many truly good folks there are in the world. π

I’m always more attracted to the simple home decorations at Christmas, but OMG who can’t love all the Peanuts here? It seems to me if you’re going to salute Charlie Brown and Company, you really have to go the Full Snoopy (full disclosure: that’s not an actual term). This was pretty cool; thanks for going there. – Marty

I have always loved Snoopy and how funny to see him and Woodstock on the roof for Christmas.
I love the way some people go to so much trouble to make us smile at Christmas time, and I bet a new generation of kids now love Snoopy.

Wouldn’t your grandkids love it? It’s just so fresh and cheerful you can’t help but smile. I wish you could have seen Schroeder’s piano and Pigpen up close – they were amazing.
