Worms last week, politics this week. Hmm. Don’t worry though, this isn’t a political rant just an observation. 🙂
I know that most of you don’t live in a state where politics is a business so I thought you might find this interesting.
This is a list compiled by NBC10 Boston as of March 26, 2019 detailing 734 visits to New Hampshire by 2020 political candidates. Think about it – this list is five months old.

Now consider that NH is approximately 83% forested and only 93 miles across from East to West and 180 miles North to South.
Want to move to NH – beautiful mountains, gorgeous seacoast, and politics year round?
If so, pack your sense of humor, don’t consider a landline with a published number, always utilize the peephole in your front door before opening, check the caller id before answering even a cell phone, accept you’ll never have a conversation that doesn’t include politics, and learn to smile and nod your head without taking a side.
With a three day holiday weekend coming up, we’ll be blanketed with candidates. They must wave to each other as they pass on our two interstates, 93 and 89.
Stay safe and have fun this coming Labor Day Weekend. I’ll do what I always do – work in my gardens and stay off the interstates and away from the candidates and the tourists. 🙂

Poor New Hampshire! But I couldn’t help a little chuckle — I do love your subtle joining of the invasives! Aside from your beautiful mountains and gorgeous seacoast, NH sounds like Indiana: throwing my phone against a wall and beating back the tentacles of the news seem to be the only ways to maintain my sanity (such as it is). I will keep your words of wisdom in mind and hold to conversations with tomatoes. Thanks!

I really thought when we cancelled the landline that was the end of the calls, and it was the end of the majority of them. But, now they even have our cell phone numbers. The amount of calls this many candidates generate is downright annoying. Yes, talking about tomatoes is much more satisfying even when they have worms. 🙂

We may not get as many politicians coming to Georgia but we sure do get the robo calls!

They drive you crazy with the robo calls. I truly don’t think the ‘Do Not Call’ list is ever utilized or remotely enforced. Stopping unwanted calls is an issue I could get behind. 🙂

Holy cow! That’s a LOT! I’d compare ’em to a swarm of locusts. You poor gardeners – one thing to battle after the next! I think I’d rather fight worms than this invasive species, though…..it’s legal to permanently rid your property of the former!

I live in Ohio. It’s politics here 365 days a year. It’s horrifying to see how these political wonks spend their time and our money. Never letting a day go by when at least one of them is not in the news. 🙄

You certainly understand the issue. Can you imagine an employee going into his boss and saying ‘I’d like to take off from work and look for another job for the next year and a half, but I’d like to continue to be paid during that time and don’t back fill my job.’ It is ridiculous from whatever corner to look at it.

Wowsah! And to think your neighbor to the north gets very little of that folderol. When I was younger and more of a political wonk, I would have loved it. Probably would have gone to as many as I could fit in my schedule. 😉

Those residents who love the whole idea of politics surely must love it. I’m thinking the sign as one enters Maine has a better ring based upon your lack of candidates – “Maine – The Way Life Should be.” 🙂

I feel for you, Judy. Here in the small NE state with a late election day, we almost never get candidates, unless their plane was diverted here by bad weather in Boston or New York. I try not to pay attention until it’s down to one-per-party. We might have to let Maddie answer the door. I hope you have nice weather in the garden.

It is funny. The news is covered with stories about traveling, visiting, camping, swimming, climbing, and I’m at home avoiding it all. The long lines at restaurants and stores and the moving parking lots on the highways just aren’t worth it. I can wait until Tuesday, and they’re all gone. 🙂 Have a great week, and I hope you are having these cooler temps.

I’d be staying out of the way, too. This is interesting to me as we’re watching the final season of “West Wing”, where they’re campaigning. Glad I don’t have to deal with all the calls and people!!

This all sounds very tedious. Our pre-election periods generally go for four to five weeks, six if we’re really unlucky. I don’t know how you cope with the length of yours.

Maybe it is because California is so large, or because it is decidedly blue, I haven’t seen much action yet… thank goodness. I’m pretty much “anyone but…” so I’m keeping my head down – and my phone unanswered – until the candidate is chosen. I’m looking forward to Labor Day… or maybe more accurately the week after, when the kids go back to school 🙂

What an amazing amount of visits! We also get a crazy amount of calls before elections… we have given up our landline and during election campaigns we only answer calls on our cell phones from people we know. After the last election a study showed Robo calls have a 1 per cent success rate! Who is going to give an opinion to an automated caller!

I’ve done political work in several states, and it’s a business pretty much everywhere. Maybe not with the same density (if that’s the right word) as in NH. Sounds like you have a good plan for the weekend. Enjoy!

We have a camera at the front door now. That takes care of that invasion. I only answer the cell if the caller is identified, and…like you… we have no landline. If they come to the back door, we’re sunk though.

Our receptionist is from New Hampshire, and I believe it’s why she does not participate in political conversation. She makes occasional comments while the rest of us rant and rave.
