Are you ‘mature’ enough to remember that comment when a person got stuck on one topic? Well, I could be referred to as ‘Judy Two Notes’ – dining out and crafting.
The snowbird ladies in the resort went to lunch on Wednesday, a couple of us went on Friday, and another group went on Saturday. Excellent food, really good service, and great views – golf course, ocean, and marsh.
Snowbirds are pretty popular down here in the winter. We bring money and keep the economy going until the tourists start arriving in April. 🙂
Sewing keeps me occupied, and I made two mug rugs and a key fob for the ladies’ luncheon, a wall hanging that is almost done except for considerable more quilting, and another wall hanging of the Portland ME Head Lighthouse that is quilted but needs a binding.
I’ve also been introduced to paper crafting through our weekly craft classes and the many talented ladies that are down here. More about paper next week.
Gardening has been somewhat limited to the indoor plants I brought or bought and my walks at Brookgreen Gardens. My gardening pulse quickened this weekend though when my Walking Iris bloomed. It always amazes me.
I miss our Master Gardener Spring Symposium in March, but I found that the South Carolina MG Spring Symposium is about four hours north and they have extended an invitation to join them at their Symposium. While we’re up in that area, I’m also hoping to make a short detour to the Botanical Garden.

Yesterday I made a deliberate choice — a la Snoopy and you — to step away from the news and allow a true Sabbatical for my week. Your choices are good example: the quilting you love, the plants you love, good food with good company. And cold with no shoveling! My hands are warmer just looking at your photos! All a great lift for starting the week — thanks!

You are welcome. I’ll try to keep you at least thinking warm for the next few weeks. 🙂 In this world of a constant barrage of ‘stuff,’ I have taken the approach that less is good more. I monitor what I watch and read and find that I’m much happier controlling the shots across my bow. 🙂

I’m taking the road less traveled and staying above the unnecessary drama that I can’t control. Head in the sand? I don’t think so because I’m aware and know what days I show up to enter the little booth with the pencil and paper, but I’m not going to allow my day to be sucked dry by their ‘hair on fire’ news. 🙂

You are certainly keeping busy down there. Your quilt work is lovely and your dining views are so pleasant! Don’t you love the delicate scent of Walking Iris? The rare one-day-only blooms make them all the more special. 12F this morning with a breeze, doesn’t that make you feel better? 😉

I do feel better. 🙂 I took the Walking Iris down to the community room so a friend from MI could see it the day before I thought it would bloom. The next day we were both at a craft class, and I took it down so she could see it. About mid afternoon, it closed up. She got to see the entire process and just marveled at it. One day or one hour, I feel blessed every time I get to see a bloom. 🙂

I have to start by saying that, not only do I remember the expression, I remember the song. My mother played record albums on Saturdays and one of her favorite artists was Carol Burnett. I still love her version of that song (it’s one of my YouTube favorites).
As for your two notes, they seem fine to me, especially when you’re in extended vacation mode. I’m glad to hear that you found an MG Group to hang with. Your creations exceed anything I would pass of as crafting, you do very nice work.

Oh, now that is funny. I’m going to have to go listen to that. It will warm up, I’m sure, even if it doesn’t hit the highs it has been reaching. My bottom line is always the same down here. Do I have to shovel snow? No, then I’m good. 🙂

We normally see egrets all over the place, but for some reason this year, there have been very few. I’m actually a little concerned and would like to ask someone about it.

I wish I had an answer for you about the egrets. Some years we have a lot, some not very many. Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of Ibis. Is there a wildlife refuge or state park nearby where you are? There might be rangers you could ask

Several years back, when news became entertainment with fear thrown in, I decided it was taking away from the quality of my day, and I decided to not let them do it. So, I limit how much I watch and read on a daily basis and don’t get all worked up just because they want to increase their ratings. That Snoopy cartoon said it all, and I’m glad you liked it. 🙂

I love your wall hanging that needs quilting, and love the one that needs binding…and don’t you just love mug rugs? Something that can be made and finished in short order if you feel the need to actually finish something?

As a quilter, you’ll appreciate I finished the quilting on the three panel wall hanging, and I did the binding on the octagon shaped one. YES! Both are hanging up. 🙂 The iris is a thing of beauty. Now, I have to finish a paper project I started and then on to tearing a pair of jeans apart and making a couple of things. 🙂

We have several friends who were unable to make it this year because of medical challenges, so those of us here miss them but also realize we have to enjoy every minute because a good day is truly a gift. 🙂

So glad you are enjoying the warm weather, I just love all your quilting as always…it would take me months to produce one small quilt! I like your Snoopy quote and I feel the same…I have stopped watching all the bush fire stories, just to get some head space. (and we have had rain…hooray!)

I hear you about the sun. It seems the only time it comes out in the winter is when we have much colder days and I would guess that’s 100% the reason why the desire for spring starts to roll around in February.
