“It’s our moment in the sun
And it’s only just begun
It’s time to have a little fun
We’re inviting you to come and see why you should be
On easy street
Yeah, we got a front row seat
Oh, to a life that can’t be beat
Right here on easy street”
When I passed by this street sign the other day, I decided I had to go back and find out what kind of doors I’d find on Easy Street – white doors, lots of white doors.Β π
Easy Street is across the road from the beach. All the houses are elevated to hopefully survive storms and the serious lack of drainage here. They are painted lovely beachy colors, and most are for rent.
At my ‘mature’ age the idea of climbing a full flight of outside stairs with all my belongings, groceries and whatever else I take in and out doesn’t really call to me. I like our elevator. π
Have you every lived on Easy Street?
I must say I’ve had some years that were easier than others, but I can’t say I’ve ever lived on Easy Street. Then again, I grew up in an era where I was told repeatedly ‘what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.’ π
Happy Thursday, and if you like doors be sure to check in on the doorman himself, Norm Franpton’s Thursday Doors, January 23, 2020.
I’ve never lived on Easy Street but I did live on Idle Hour Drive. Not kidding.

No, I haven’t ever lived on Easy St, but I can’t complain. I’m with you an elevator would be so much better!

What a once in a life time capture. Love white doors and railings. I mostly on “difficult” street, but i learned much by being there. And I needed to learn much:)

Nope, I’ve never lived on Easy Street. And I agree with the saying “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” Love the white doors and railings on the colorful buildings.

π It was like a street of white doors. I had more, but how many white doors could I show. π

I love the wide balconies, and white buildings always make me think of sunny days…and yes the saying ‘what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’ is one of my favourites!

Houses in a beach community are so cheerful in comparison to our brick and mortar bland colors. I see colors on houses here that I’d usually only see in fabric. π

No Easy Street here! But I keep hoping the Road Less Traveled is going to end up some place great.
Love the colorful buildings and the white doors and trim really make them pop
An elevator would seal the deal! Nope, not doing stairs.

I can’t say I’ve lived on Easy Street, but I know I’d fit right in on Idle Hour Drive! I do like those summery colors and their white trim, but those stairs? Not so much. God gave us elevators for a reason.

I laughed until I almost cried at Idle Hour Drive. Love it! That is right – God and Otis created elevators for us to use. π

So charming those cottages are! But with the latest crazy weather patterns I worry about their stability in a serious storm. (Hopefully it’s not like our Lake Michigan beaches currently being swallowed up by a huge water level rise – that’s why I’m so nervous about these, I guess!) )
I envy the owners who get to decorate so cutely – like that mermaid plaque outside the door!
As for Easy Street, I think never having to fight for something, or budget and save for it, or learn a lesson from a big mistake would be a boring life indeed!

That entire street was up on what I’d call stilts and being across the road from the ocean, I can only imagine what kind of high water they deal with. In Portsmouth, NH, they are building new construction with higher water levels in mind. Sign of the times. Yes, we learn from living through the ups and downs. Not always pleasant, but we still learn. π

I love beach cottages and the charm they exude… to say nothing of the wonderful paint colors and decorations. I’ve never lived on Easy Street either, but this retirement gig is pretty darn close!

Great doors and look at those railings!

Well, I’m thinking you’ve got a good deal there with that street name, and it keeps you aware of how good lie really is the vast majority of the time. π

It looks lovely, Judy, but the stairs would be a bit much. I’ve never lived on Easy St, but when I owned my cabinet shop, it was on Quality Ave.

Oh my goodness. Does it get any better for a craftsman with your skills to have an address on Quality Avenue? I LOVE it. π

Charming! I love the look of beach houses, but in my seashore stays I discovered one reason I couldn’t live there — storms. Not even hurricanes. Just regular old thunderstorms do me in at the beach. Beautiful terror. The stairs on those homes would be a factor for me as well.
I don’t know a thing about Easy Street π My husband did grow up on Normal Avenue.

Thank you – I love it, Normal Avenue! Those are a lot of stairs to haul things up and down, and I’m with you on the storms. They also have a real drainage issue so when it rains lightly the roads have huge ponds on both sides so I can only imagine the roads are totally under water in a ‘real’ storm.

The homes on Easy Street are very pretty, but I’m with you on the stair thing. Too much hard work going up and down all day!
